Slippery One
SLIPPERY ONE I wish that we could somehow freeze the frame but this isn’t the silver screen, no there’s no pause... Movement is pretty inevitable. However still you are, movement still occurs subtly through the physical act of breathing, the circulation of our blood, our energy. As a response to this fact, this #flow has become a pretty slippery one as my physical practice ventures further and further into space. I’ve shared this for the first time in yesterday’s matless session and gosh it’s so great to see you guys vibing it through like cats. Time to find out how the story goes... So, so proud to share that thanks to the wonderful support from all of you lovely people, we’ve managed to raise £600 for Movember Foundation UK this year, with a big chunk of the proceeds coming from my recent Mo-Flow event held at Indaba Yoga where we all sported ‘staches as we flowed across the floor matless. Round & Round
Another #flow I’ve been promising to upload for you guys to play with. This one is quite a toughie but a really good one to practise by listening to how the body can continue the inherent spiralling motion. Like a top in slow motion, going round and round but with the decisive power to reverse directions if desired. Especially near the end, this particular one was how my body wanted to unravel from a #parsvabakasana (sidecrow) variation. But I’ve been sharing another transition out of this arm balance lately. Testing out the beautiful parqueted floors of Indaba Yoga in prep for the launch of my matless class on Wednesdays 3.30-5pm and I am loving the liberation of it all! It’s so nice to feel the wooden texture against my hands and feet. Here’s a #flow I’ve been playing with. One being all about finding different ways to enter and exit an asana in a way which makes your body feels best at that moment of time. This was how I felt like stretching then within the collection of asana I’ve strung up as a template. Self Practice Timelapse
This afternoon, them Londoners at Westfield London held me accountable for my self practice by the Lululemon London window and what was meant to be a 45 minute session ended up twice as long. Definitely way more productive than when I practise at home🤦♂️. Flow : Fall Into Place
Let your body fall into place. It’s one of the best advice I’ve personally received regarding movement during my time at Trinity Laban 🕺. To land our bodies concisely through greater intention, minimise the unnecessary fidgets and shuffles, and simply #trust in the architecture of the body to surrender towards a journey than a predetermined destination 🚲. This #flow is a loose adaptation of what I recalled from an awesome Dylan Werner Yoga class with Cody 💁♂️. Try to flow freely today, or your own adaptation of this one. See where your body takes you. Flow : Listen
Close your eyes. Listen to your heartbeat… The way its pulses layer with the rising and falling of your ribs. Let this small movement be your starting point. Lately when I am on the mat, I allow myself to linger off ‘alignment’ and ‘structure’, instead trusting my intuition to guide my body towards what I needed for the particular moment of time. This #flow simply manifested itself from simply allowing my breath to lead my body through space. Try this out on the mat. Listen in and start small, no judgment or expectations of how you will move.
