Masterclass: Friday, 13 October - 6pm-8pm (€35)

Beyond Asana

Using traditional yoga postures (asana) as points of departure, we will move through fluid, multidimensional sequences blending the worlds of architecture, dance and spirituality to condition towards complexity and mobilise towards longevity. Class begins with a somatic enquiry and feature opportunities to move, roll, crawl or invert beyond the confines of your mat. A bravespace offering wild permission for collective un/structured play to expand your capacities for pleasure and self-expression.

Workshop 1: Saturday, 14 October - 12pm-2pm (€45)

Dynamics of Becoming : Exploring Energy and Effort Qualities We are always in a state of becoming, constantly adjusting, shifting and recomposing ourselves in response to our environment. But how exactly? We will explore this question by dissecting the nuanced play of tension during movement to access varying degrees of sensitivity and softness true to our individual experiences. There will be opportunities to embody different shades of effort qualities both within the context of asana practice as well as free movement.

Workshop 2: Saturday, 14 October - 2.30pm-4.30pm (€45)

The Space of Choice : Discovering Expression in Asana “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” — Victor Frankl. The traditional sun salutation is our starting point, upon which we dissect the possibilities for expression both within asana and between asana (vinyasa). We leave with as many variations of sun salutations as the number of participants present. Great for those seeking to establish a self practice or teachers looking into creative sequencing.

Workshop 3: Sunday, 15 October - 12pm-2pm (€45)

Surfing Gravity : Finding Flow within Flight

The relationship we have with gravity is a constant negotiation between indulging (giving into) and resisting (drawing away from). Explore how we can play with these efforts in a way that transcends the containers of arm balances and inversions, but an ongoing dance with gravity along the spectrum of surrender and resistance. We will study the inherent rhythm of gravity, making time to develop cyclical movement in our practices from the lens of efficiency, longevity and sustainability.

Workshop 4: Sunday, 15 October - 2.30pm-4.30pm (€45)

Movement as Play : Gamification of Practice towards Agency

Practice is personal but practice can also be social in a way that honours meaningful relationships that form between self and others, self and surrounding. Establishing this sense of ‘withness’ via play in practice not only helps dissolve the pressure of ‘correctness’, but greatly develops our sense of resourcefulness in movement. Through mindful games and playful situations incorporating props and partnerwork, we will experience ‘being moved by’ as an alternative to moving in hopes of building deeper trust and greater agency in practice.
